Movie Discussion Guide: August Rush (2007) (FREE Download)
Evan Taylor is an orphan living in an orphanage. He feels a strong connection with his parents through music—and he knows that they love him and that they are searching for him. Evan is convinced that he can find his parents by following the music, so he sets off for New York City where he is overwhelmed by all the new sights and sounds.
His first adventure is with Wizard the street musician and his gang. Evan learns to play a little music on Wizard’s guitar and is renamed August Rush so that he won’t be discovered and sent back to the orphanage. Through a series of adventures, August finds shelter with a Baptist pastor who recognizes his talent and sends August to Juilliard where he is a child prodigy.
As August prepares to perform the music in hopes of finding his parents, his mother and father find out that August is alive, which draws them both back to New York. August Rush is a heartwarming film about music and the strong ties in the family unit of father-mother-child.
