Living the Beatitudes (Download)
In this lesson, students will learn about Jesus’ teachings from the Sermon on the Mount, specifically the Beatitudes. Through these teachings about who is considered blessed, children will learn important pro-life values and will start to build that necessary foundation so that they can become the next pro-life generation.
How does learning the Beatitudes help lay this foundation? Jesus' words and teachings contradict the culture that our children live in—a culture that tells them that the most revered people are the beautiful, the popular, and the rich. But Jesus helps us see that those things don't matter, as He speaks of the true value of people.
When children understand that, they begin to respect people for who they are rather than what they can do. This is a vital pro-life teaching, and it forms children into future adults who care for and protect the vulnerable.
Living the Beatitudes offers concrete ways for students to help others, reminding them that all people are created in the image and likeness of God and that all deserve respect and love.
